European institutional delegations are arriving in Washington for the annual meeting of the IMF and the World

European institutional delegations are arriving in Washington for the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank

Il vertice sarà preceduto dall'incontro trimestrale ad alto livello del G20, incentrato su questioni finanziarie e monetarie.

EU/ENG - The meetings will be held from October 15 to 17.

The Managing Director of the IMF is Kristalina Georgieva. She assumed office on October 1, 2019, and was reappointed for a second term in 2024. The World Bank is headed by Ajay Banga, who has served as President since June 2023. Banga, of Indian origin and a naturalized American, was appointed by US President Biden and has extensive experience in multinational financial institutions.

The delegations will also use the opportunity to hold bilateral discussions. The summit will be preceded by the quarterly high-level G20 meeting, which focuses on financial and monetary issues.

The summit brings together central bank governors, finance and development ministers, parliamentarians, private sector leaders, and academics to discuss issues of global relevance. European Central Bank President Lagarde also confirmed her presence.

 

EU/ITA - Le delegazioni istituzionali europee sono o stanno arrivando a Washington per partecipare alla riunione annuale del Fondo monetario internazionale e della Banca mondiale in  programma dal 15 al 17 ottobre.

La Direttrice Generale del Fondo Monetario è Kristalina Georgieva. Ha assunto l'incarico il 1° ottobre 2019 ed è stata riconfermata per un secondo mandato nel 2024.  La Banca Mondiale è diretta da Ajay Banga, che è il presidente dal giugno 2023. Banga, di origine indiana e naturalizzato statunitense, è stato nominato dal presidente degli Stati Uniti Biden e vanta una vasta esperienza nel settore delle multinazionali finanziarie.

Le delegazioni approfitteranno dell'occasione per condurre anche colloqui bilaterali. Il vertice sarà preceduto dall'incontro trimestrale ad alto livello del G20, incentrato su questioni finanziarie e monetarie.

Il Vertice riunisce governatori delle banche centrali, ministri delle finanze e dello sviluppo, parlamentari, dirigenti del settore privato, rappresentanti del mondo accademico, per discutere questioni di rilevanza mondiale. Ha assicurato la sua presenza anche la Presidente della Banca Centrale Europea Lagarde.
