The German Ministry of Economy has revised its growth forecast upward to 0.2%

EU/ENG - The German Ministry of Economy has revised its growth forecast for the year upward to 0.2%, from a previous forecast of zero. The government in Berlin now forecasts growth of 1.3% for 2026 and 1.4% for 2027.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, followed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and President Donald Trump's tariff policies, Europe's largest economy has experienced poor growth. The country was in recession in 2023 and 2024.

Echoes of the ministry's strong commitment are also coming from the Ministry of Finance. Klingbell, head of the ministry, is governing, emphasizing the slogan "We are investing heavily in the country's future." He also reiterated this at the presentation of the 2026 spending plan in September, calling the draft budget proof of a "paradigm shift in German economic policy."
