Ukraine Recovery Conference pledges €10 bln to support Ukraine

L'importante evento si è tenuto a Roma giovedi 10 e venerdi 11 luglio

EU/ENG - International investors pledged ten billion euros to Kiev's business delegations for the reconstruction of Ukraine following Russia's aggression. The pledge was made by companies and major investors at the fourth Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Rome on July 10 and 11, which led to concrete steps forward in future economic support for Ukraine from Europe and the West in general. From infrastructure to ports, from sectoral partnerships to the revitalization of energy, industry, banking, and finance, it was a package with many tangible steps in support of Kiev.

In Rome, European Commission President von der Leyen presented a new European Fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, envisioning an investment framework modeled after the "Marshall Plan," which Ukrainian President Zelensky has hailed as a successful model. She cited the decades of peace enjoyed by the Old Continent following the end of World War II as a basis for this thesis.

The World Bank estimates the economic commitments to rebuild Ukraine at $534 billion, so the agreements reached in Rome are a first step, which nonetheless holds significant weight for much more substantial future commitments, considering that, hopefully after the war is over, the newfound stability will finally attract the necessary resources

The 2025 Conference has taken on an even more significant symbolic significance given Trump's erratic attitude toward Zelensky, although NATO's support for Kiev, despite the proclamations, has not wavered. Putin continues to attack, apparently regardless of who the US president is.
