The US attack on Iran's nuclear sites is surprising, but already at the G7 official statements condemned Tehran's aggression

EU/EN - It was already clear at the G7 on June 16-17 that the military escalation between Israel and Iran was not very containable. The summit in Canada had in fact turned into an extraordinarily political summit, although born with economic purposes. The discussion among Western leaders had quickly shifted from economic cooperation to a heartfelt reflection on the global order. The official statements spoke of a "condemnation of Iranian aggression" and of "solidarity with Israel". Trump had returned to the White House a day earlier and, not by chance, after a few days he launched the powerful attack on Iranian nuclear sites.
