European Parliament: First trilogue on July 15th on new priorities for Cohesion

EU/ENG- The European Parliament is ready to negotiate with EU countries on the mid-term review of Cohesion Policy. Five new priorities are envisaged. These include defense industrial capacity and dual-use infrastructure, both civilian and military. The Regional Development Committee (REGI), responsible for the dossier, has expressed its support for this, and no objections were raised during the plenary session in Strasbourg, so the negotiating mandate is considered approved. On the agenda for July 15th: The first meeting with EU Council negotiators.

Cohesion policy is the European Union's main investment policy, focused on reducing development disparities between regions and strengthening economic, social, and territorial cohesion. It aims to promote a more balanced and sustainable development across all EU regions, supporting key priorities such as job creation, competitiveness, and the green and digital transitions.
